Why stucco needs special care
Stucco is porous: it soaks up water, and cracks let moisture in behind the paint. Paint on stucco has to breathe and stretch a little with the wall. That's why the prep and the product matter more than on siding.
Our stucco process
- Soft wash to remove dirt, chalk, and mildew without chipping the stucco.
- Hairline cracks are filled with a flexible masonry filler.
- Bare or patched areas are primed with masonry primer.
- Two coats of exterior paint made for masonry surfaces.
Signs your stucco needs paint
Rub your hand on the wall. If it comes away with a white or colored powder, the old paint is chalking and has stopped protecting the stucco. Faded color on the sunny sides and dark mildew on the shady sides are other signs.
